Ok, ok….catch-up time!

A brief re-cap of summertime sun and fall festivities should bring us up to date in a winter wonderland on this blog. I sure do apologize for neglecting this space for the last several months. We’ve had some very trying times during the summer with the business and personally but many, many beautiful, growing, loving moments watching B grow into a happy, easy, beaming full-fledged toddler.
Update on B: His walking has now turned to running, lots of wrestling, dancing, pillow-crashing and thorough jumping on the bed attempts (usually halted by me). His babble and few words have now turned into about 20+ comprehensive countable words/phrases that include but not limited to:

Hi/Hello (hello is specifically for cell phone use)
Mom/Dad               Shoe                        Eye (lots of eye-poking takes place w/ this one)
Blue’s Clues           Tickle/Tickle           Mouth
iPad                        Car                          Nose
What’s that?           Boo                         Ear
Paper/Pen               Boom                      Hair
Banana                   Pig                          Feet
Bottle                     Dog                         Hand
No                         Keys                        Hat
Baby                     Night/Night
Light                     Chair

B loves to color, draw, scribble and watch someone do the same. He loves getting into the iPad or phone. He knows the buttons on how to turn the devices on and ‘swipe’ open on the apps. He has his own learning apps on the iPad . Next step is to teach him the 4-digit passcode to get into the main screen. He really likes watching Blue’s Clues and I was surprised a few weeks ago when he asked for the show - I wasn’t quite sure what he was asking me as he pointed to the TV. Eventually, I understood him to be saying, “Blue’s Clues!” B loves to help out, as in throw diapers in the garbage, put dishes up on the countertop, etc. He also LOVES brushing his 6 teeth (soon to be 8 as two more starting poking through this week). As always, he loves the outdoors, playing with other kids and he truly is a happy, loving little man.

As for us, we are thankful that the business has been pretty steady into the fall. I am currently taking classes at the local community college and we have adjusted well to the schedule to me being home with B during the day and Steve will come home in time for me to jet off to class Monday through Thursday (only a few classes left before winter break - time flies!). We moved into a new place a few blocks from our old. We are liking the change of scenery and the privacy from not being on a busy street in midtown. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in the hills with Steve’s mom and shared the remaining evening at my family’s house. The day after Thanksgiving, we drove to Tahoe and stayed in one of Steve’s client’s lovely homes in Tahoe City. Steve is going to be making some furniture pieces for the Tahoe home and he did some measuring and sketching for some work throughout the house. B had a great time up there! We added some firsts: B touching snow, watching his first sunrise on the lake, staying in the mountains and nature walks.

We are planning to get a Christmas tree this weekend, I hope! Looking forward to celebrating the holiday season with loved ones and ringing in the new year!

Lots of pictures to share. They’re a bit out of order but dates, age are attached. I’ll create a separate post from our Tahoe trip. They’re are so many beautiful photos of the views, sunrises/sunsets and little man it probably deserves its own post. :)

Happy First Birthday!

This past weekend we celebrated B’s first year. We had a low-key barbecue with family and friends. It was a hot, summer’s day in the backyard. I see future birthday celebrations including a pool or by the water of some sort. A few weeks prior to the big day, B started walking! He is officially a walking machine proudly showing off his new milestone on his birthday.
Updates on the last two months go a little something like this…getting some pool time and sunshine rays in our day. Thursday play-dates with Mr. Dante and his mom which include lunch concert in Fremont park or Bertha Henschel wading pool. This week we eliminated formula from his diet and he’s been drinking whole milk. Last night he went to bed without a bottle without a fuss. We’ve been trying to do the whole no-bottle-at-bedtime thing for a couple weeks now. Some days he knocks out without while others we give in and hand over a bottle. He is such a happy babe and the transition has been fairly smooth. In other news, he has three teeth and the fourth (being the second top tooth) is poking through the gum as of a few days ago.
All in all, this 12 month old is right on target developmentally and behavioral. This first year has gone by amazingly fast and we’re off to a fantastic start!

Didn’t get much messier than that. I don’t think he’s a fan of getting messy.
